How it Works » Introduction
We will meet for an introductory discussion for which there is no charge. If you decide to go ahead, we will draw up a plan together of what will be in the book.
We will then have three or four interview sessions, lasting about three hours each (but you can tell me what suits you). I will use my professional skills to help you to tell your story in the best way possible but you’re in charge of what goes in and what doesn’t.
I’ll tape the interviews and write the story from these, using your own words as much as possible and adding useful background or historical material where necessary. I don’t simply type the words on to the screen but create a highly professional manuscript with a good structure which is readable and accurate. It will be the book you always hoped to write.
You will receive a proof of the manuscript to correct and add to.
I will scan your photos into a computer and return them to you in person. I can then repair and enlarge photos on screen.
If necessary, I’ll take an up-to-date portrait of you for the cover and/or photograph a place which has a special part in your story for the cover.
I will then use the top industry design system Adobe InDesign to lay out your story and photos in a book. You’ll receive a proof of the book and cover as they will look.
The books will be printed to a high standard and delivered, wherever possible, in person by me. The price includes up to 50 copies. You can have more copies – ask me for prices.
