About Caroline Brannigan
I’m a journalist based in Yorkshire writing features for national newspapers and magazines. I’ve interviewed many celebrities but it’s the ordinary people I’ve written about who have the best stories to tell.
I’ve also come across many small businesses with fascinating histories which deserve to be recorded.
I began writing memoirs because in our celebrity-led culture, it’s increasingly difficult for less well-known people to have their voices heard.
I only wish I had begun this when my parents were still alive. Writing their story afterwards made me realize there were fascinating details which had been lost for ever.
I’m a highly-skilled interviewer and have also trained hundreds of journalists in interviewing skills. This means I can help you to tell the best story you can and give it a good, readable structure. One problem with writing your own memoirs is that it’s all clear to you but doesn’t always make sense on the page to others. I’ll make sure there are no missing details.
But you’re in charge and have complete editorial control over what does and doesn’t go in. You’ll also own the copyright to your book. Your name will go on the cover as the author.
Telling your story with the help of a skilled and sympathetic interviewer will in itself be an enjoyable experience. How often do we get to talk about ourselves without the other person butting in to tell their story?
